Building America’s Canal Exhibit
Now Open at Discovery Center

The new Building America’s Canal Exhibit in the new second floor gallery features interactive stations to teach and entertain. The stations include:

Build a Suspension Bridge! Visitors can assemble a model of a single span cable aqueduct.

Build a Lock on an interactive computer designed for children as young as four.

Build a Crane! Here visitors may use a construction kit approach that allows the building pf a variety of simple cranes or derricks and move around blocks of cargo.

Build a Canal System! This station even provides a tally/abacus-like counting system to challenge older visitors to prepare a cost analysis in building a canal system to learn about building on a limited budget.

Build an Arched Bridge! This station features an activity table with forms and blocks to build a masonry aqueduct.
